A serious international political umbrella group for advocates of cannabis law reform
Working together towards cannabis pro-legislation worldwide

Officers at Legalise Cannabis International

Here at Legalise Cannabis International (LCI) we search hard to find the right people to come onboard to work with us, as Officers for their home State, Province or home country. As an umbrella group, we work together to support US States, Provinces and countries that send us a committed, campaigning Officer who will keep our group updated on legalisation initiatives, rallies and demos in their region, along with relative cannabis news and State or national law and updates concerning cannabis law reform initiatives.

The Work of Officers at LCI

As an umbrella group, the LCI means of working with activist groups is in that the known and experienced leader of a cannabis campaign group becomes a State, Province or National Officer at LCI - a person who will commit to posting their campaign news, regional cannabis laws, rallies, demos etc on the LCI FaceBook Wall. It is in this way, by mutual agreement between the group coordinator and the leader of a campaign group that LCI and activist groups work together.

This mutual arrangement thus provides an international platform for the Officer to extend all of the news coming from their region and also extends the visibility of Legalise Cannabis International - to the end purpose of having all of the world's pro-legislation initiatives under one roof and accessible to the general public through the user interface of our Facebook group and thus leading on, through promoting the worldwide campaign for cannabis legalisation, leading to the legalisation of regulated cannabis use worldwide.

We do not allow group leaders to just turn up on our FB Wall and start asking people to add them as a friend etc without first introducing themselves to the group coordinator and sharing their group's outreach vision and the work that their group is doing towards legalisation. To do so is just plain bad manners on their part and this is not acceptable within our group. We thus remove all such posts and persons from our group.

The Qualifications of Officers

We need campaigners who are known leaders of State or National campaigner groups who are good team workers, have proven experience of working for cannabis law reform and who are able to keep in touch with the legal news and events in their area and share them with the membership of our Group on our FaceBook group Wall.

We are looking for people who have background and experience in this respect, people who can work under their own initiative, yet work as part of a friendly Team, people who are well aware of the differences between cannabis advocacy, cannabis ideology and cannabis law reform and therefore perform in a way that reflects their cannabis law reform regional agenda in their postings to our group.

This is, essentially, the criteria we employ for recruiting Officers at LCI.

If you:

1) are an experienced campaigner of a known cannabis law reform group. If you are not the leader of a campaign group, please discuss this Officer post with your group leader before applying to be an Officer. We don't want anyone to be offended.
2) are a regular contributor to the LCI FB group and thus known to the LCI coordinator.

then please read our "about" page to check that you are on board with the aims of LCI, check here, to see if your country or region already has an Officer with LCI and please become familiar with the LCI FB posting rules (which, of necessity, are strictly enforced.)

If you agree with the aims and purpose of LCI, the role of Officers and the posting rules, please send your details and campaign group details with links, for consideration, to the email address at the bottom of this page. Please do not send a FB message. The group coordinator will then be very happy to discuss your being an Officer with LCI. Thank you.

Exclusions as to who can be an Officer at LCI

LCI promotes only the cause of cannabis law reform, not the persona, popularity or the personal experiences of the campaigner. There are plenty of advocacy groups that have personal testimony, chat etc. along with many forums on the web where people can discuss themselves. It is the quietly dedicated work of campaigners that will advance the cause of cannabis law reform, not people seeking to draw attention to themselves as campaigners.

There is a big difference between what Officers are allowed to post on the LCI group Wall and what they might like to post on their own Walls or own groups, which they operate as they choose.

Here at LCI, we insist that all posts are of a pro-legislate nature - i.e. they inform group members about the cannabis campaign moving forward on a law reform basis. We assume that every member of our LCI group has joined the group because they believe that cannabis law reform is necessary, so nobody needs any convincing, in this respect. On this basis, material such as personal testimony posts, such as videos and articles, are not allowed. We are not an educational group - we are a cannabis law reform group and this is not an issue of "freedom of speech" here. Every group has its method of working and LCI is no exception. We want to know what is happening in the world of cannabis law reform and what initiatives are being taken to bring about this cannabis law reform - this is all we care about here at LCI. Our LCI posting rules are here.

Removal of Officers at LCI

Officers who continually seek to draw attention to themselves, their videos, their books, their whatever, instead of cannabis law reform or who continue to make posts that are not of a cannabis law reform nature will be removed.

We do not allow Officers to externally promote themselves as Officers of LCI without making input to our FB group. To do so would be a one-sided exercise - not to mention that the news from the Officer's region is not forthcoming, which is a great loss to our group members. Working with LCI as an Officer is a two-way street in that Officers are able to promote their regional news, rallies, demos etc and LCI gets to have more Officers under the LCI umbrella group, so that our group members can access all of the world's cannabis campaign news under one roof, which is probably the main reason why so many people are members of our LCI FB group.

On this basis, we have to say that Officers who do not keep the LCI FB group regularly updated with their campaign group news will be removed as Officers, and informed accordingly. The long-term absence of posting group news is, in effect, a silent resignation of no longer being an LCI Officer. We don't like it, our members don't like it - nobody likes it, but there it is.

Moderating the LCI group

Please bear in mind that moderating the LCI group to keep the group on track towards cannabis law reform is not an easy task, especially since there are many uses for cannabis which include medical use, recreational use and spiritual use, to name but a few, and all of which are generally (but not exclusively) used as serious alternatives to pharm meds, alcohol and organised religion. It remains that there are still a lot of people who have not yet been able to focus on what our LCI objectives are. Yes, it would be so easy to have none of the exclusions and removals - but what direction would our group be moving towards if we did not employ this criteria? We have seen many campaign groups bite the dust - for many reasons - and we don't want to see LCI go the same way.

Question: What does "bit the dust" mean, in this context? Answer: It means that a) the group disbands because of lack of support due to loss of original purpose or b) Plods along, but becomes totally ineffective because of internal competitiveness, sniping and/or backbiting amongst campaigners or c) Plods along, but becomes totally ineffective because the group has either a) lost its original vision of cannabis law reform or b) fails to implement a policy to maintain the focus on cannabis law reform.

LCI needs to remain true to its vision of cannabis law reform if the issue is going to move forward and draw support for cannabis law reform from the broader community. Our understanding and acceptance of these points are crucial to our method of working in achieving our communal goal of changing the laws of cannabis prohibition. Thank you for reading this far, and thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for supporting Legalise Cannabis International. Together we will END CANNABIS PROHIBITION!!!

We can't wait for the day.
