It has been utilized since prehistory until the 19th century without a single recorded death resulting from its use - compared to legal pharmaceutical drugs which kill 200,000 people a year... This film is in support of Peter Davy, a Timaru cancer patient currently facing a prison sentence for growing medicinal cannabis to treat his illness. He will be sentenced on 4/20 this year. Starring Professor David Nutt, Dr Geoff Noller, Dakta Green and a cross section of medical users.

"By extrapolating from those 200 plants, that I would yield an incredible 50lbs of saleable cannabis, worth a hugely exaggerated figure of $240,000, my tiny home operation was turned into an imaginary major drug bust. Instead of a quick judiciary process through the District Court which would most likely have resulted in a period of home detention; I was told by the judge that due to the large amount of (imaginary) money involved, my case would have to be heard in the High Court, and end up with me serving potentially 4 to 5 years in prison. My sentencing will take place on June 8th 2011 and I plan to protest the extreme exaggeration that seems to be business as usual for the New Zealand Police."

The Case of "Switched On Gardener" - "Operation Lime."

In April 2010, the New Zealand police conducted a nationwide operation against a gardening business and arrested more than 200 people, mostly shop employees, with a wide range of offences under New Zealand drug laws.

"The search warrants included all 16 branches and distribution centre of major national supplier of indoor growing supplies Switched On Gardener , a chain that regularly advertises on national television. The managers, directors and employees have been arrested and police say will soon be facing charges. Altogether over 250 people face over 700 charges."

A massive undercover cannabis operation netting more than 250 suspects on 750 charges will break the cornerstone of the industry, police say. Police this morning swooped on 35 businesses and numerous residential addresses throughout the country as search warrants were executed as part of 'Operation Lime'. The two year operation targeted businesses and individuals responsible for the commercial sale of equipment used in the growing of cannabis. Those arrested have appeared in district courts around the country today, police said.
